A working formulation lab for a perfume house.
Éclataur composes fragrances by hand. ÉCLAB is the application we built to run that work: formula building, concentration and dilution math, and ingredient substitution logic in one focused tool, replacing a sprawl of spreadsheets.
FIG. 01 · FORMULATION WORKSPACE, DESKTOP
Formulation work has no room for arithmetic errors.
A perfume formula is a precise recipe: dozens of materials, each at an exact concentration, diluted through multiple stages. Éclataur was managing this in spreadsheets, and spreadsheets fail quietly. A single wrong cell reference means a batch mixed at the wrong strength, materials wasted, and a formula that can’t be reproduced.
The house needed one place to build formulas, run the math automatically, and record substitutions when a material is unavailable, without adopting bloated enterprise lab software built for factories rather than a craft studio.
One tool, shaped exactly to the work.
We designed ÉCLAB around the perfumer’s actual workflow rather than a generic database pattern. The core is a formula builder where each material carries its own concentration logic, so composition math resolves automatically as the formula changes.
A substitution layer handles the reality of sourcing: when a material is out of stock or discontinued, ÉCLAB suggests documented alternatives with their adjustment ratios, so the accord survives the swap.
Built to disappear behind the work.
Density where it matters.
The workspace shows every material, ratio, and total on one screen with no pagination, because a perfumer thinks in whole formulas, not pages.
Calculations you can audit.
Every computed value can be expanded to show its working. Trust in a lab tool comes from being able to check it, so nothing is a black box.
Éclataur’s identity, not ours.
ÉCLAB wears the house’s own language: matte black, antique gold, editorial type. We build in the client’s brand, and here the client happens to be one of our own.
No dependency sprawl.
Self-hosted, lean, and fast, in line with how we build everything. [ STACK SUMMARY: PLATFORM, HOSTING ]
Running on spreadsheets that shouldn’t be spreadsheets?
